Breakfast for making you Slim

You are what you eat: it’s a fact that your eating habits categorically have some effect on your personality. According to studies it has been found that those persons who eat breakfast regularly, particularly one that includes cereal, are slimmer than those who skip the morning meal. Those who eat breakfast of any type have a lower average body mass index, a common obesity measure, than those who do not take breakfast at all. The index is even subordinate for those who eat cereal for breakfast. The fiber in cereal and healthier foods that normally go with cereal, such as milk and orange juice, may account for the lower body mass index among cereal eaters.

Taking breakfast earlier in the day keeps you away from those tempting items on the side of road that you would have picked if you were hungry. No doubt Breakfast consumption drops with age, the researchers found that those who did not eat breakfast tend to eat higher fat foods later in the day. It has been found that a person taking breakfast on average has a body mass index 0.7 units lower than one who did not eat breakfast at all. Those who eat breakfast on a regular basis are more likely to have a structured eating plan throughout the day and consequently are less likely to snack between meals and consume empty calories.

What happens is that when you skip breakfast, your metabolic rate slows down and your blood sugar drops. As a result, you become hungry and have less energy. This sets you up to impulsively snack in the morning - often on high-fat sweets - or to eat extra servings or bigger portions at lunch or dinner. On the other hand when you eat breakfast, your body feels nourished and satisfied, making you less likely to overeat the rest of the day.

A healthy breakfast not only keeps you fit it helps you in staying away from deadly diseases. Eating breakfast every day may reduce the risk for obesity and insulin resistance syndrome - an early sign of developing diabetes - by as much as 35 to 50 percent, according to a study presented recently.

If you say that I will take breakfast but choices are limited then look for some other excuse because breakfast choices are endless, although whole-grain cereals top the list as the best choice for weight control and improving health. A Harvard study found that participants who ate whole-grain cereal every day were 17 percent less likely to die over the next several years from any cause, and 20 percent less likely to die from cardiovascular disease, than those who "rarely or never" ate whole-grain cereals.

So avoid making baseless excuses and start taking a healthy breakfast from today! Eat fit to stay fit.
