Weight Loss Myths Unvieled - I

Weight loss plans and weight loss diets often go wrong with the result that the you get severely discouraged and setback the whole psychological preparations made by the you. And since it’s always mind over strength so ones the mind is defeated the body is bound to lose the war against weight problems. Some of the most common mistakes are rooted in age old believes and if followed, may just devastate your whole diet and weight loss plan. Though it is not essential that such mistakes lead to total loss but nonetheless they make weight loss difficult. So here is the first installment of such myths:

  • Starch March: Well many even most of us believe that starch present in bread, rice etc. is a leading cause of weight gain, but generally thy only act as good sources of carbohydrates which is the main source of energy in the body. When eaten in moderation they are healthy, but they do some damage when eaten in high excess. But generally the starches themselves are not the culprits but instead the butter toppings and other things that you put on them are the main criminals.
  • Spot reduction: Now this is a case those fancy ads of various weight loss machines and medication prove to the hilt. There is absolutely nothing like spot reduction since our body never works in that way, its fat storage system is a single system so no matter how many crunches you do you only succeed in building up your abdomen muscles but the to reduce the tummy you have to reduce your overall weight. This can be proven by the fact that whenever these aforementioned ads show any before or after case notice that the person in the “after “ case has not just a trim and toned abdomen but also a great overall body too.
  • Enjoyment tax: Well many people say that you must stop enjoying eating food to lose weight and gain a control over their weight. That is absolutely incorrect because as per this myths all the foodies and food critics should be the most obese people in the world, but that’s not the case. That’s because it’s not the enjoyment which leads to weight gain but actually the amount of food that you eat which is the main culprit. So to lose weight you need not lose your interest and love in food but just the large portions of puddings pies and every other thing that you eat simply because they taste good and not because you are hungry.
