Weight Loss Myths Unvieled - II
- Starve war: This is an issue that is repeated nth times but people don’t listen, especially young folks wanting to get quick weight loss results. Starving is not a solution for weight loss and Dieting. Starving though is bound to help but does considerable damage to the body as well and you must understand that if you are dieting from a health point of view it’s extremely damaging to your health. And if you are losing weight to look good then let me assure you that you will look better healthy than starved and dehydrated. Also another major pitfall is that as soon as you start depriving yourself of food your body slows down your metabolism to conserve energy which in turn slows down your work speed and thus efficiency. Another point in the case is that by starving yourself you not only deprive the body of valuable nutrients like vitamins and minerals which are essential for the proper functioning of the body.
- Meal miser: Many think that missing meals help you to lose weight effectively but actually it does more damage to the weight loss program since after you miss the meal you tend to overeat in the next meal. And this in the end leads to weight gain.
- Vegan Mania: This is an extremely common belief that becoming vegetarian will help you lose weight. Though it can be true in some cases but can rarely be taken as a general case since there are many vegetarian foods and snacks which are laced with fat. Also thinks such as cheese and nuts have a good amount of fat in them, and so does the plethora of vegetarian snack like chips and dips as well the delicious chocolate bar. So whatever you are whether vegetarian or non vegetarian you must be careful of the quantity and the quality of your diet.
- Weigh all the way: This is not exactly a myth but more of a mal-practice. Almost all of us are excited about the proceeding s of our diet but we tend to get overexcited and start weighing ourselves whenever we feel like sometimes even several times a day. Now how can this be wrong, well firstly because weight loss is not an extremely fast procedure and thus doesn’t show results in days, so when we see every day that our effort isn’t bearing fruits we find it very difficult to continue the work. Secondly just think seeing a large development after a big gap of time is better than seeing extremely slow progress everyday. It means that if you keep watching your weight regularly you only see small difference, which has a more discouraging psychological effect than the seeing considerable result after a long time.
