Yoga is not an exercise it is a phenomenon that allow you to connect with yourself. Yoga helps you in understanding your needs and teaches you how to control them. Some of the most phenomenal types of yoga are touched briefly in this article.

Power yoga : power yoga is also known as raja yoga or Ashtanga Yoga. This yoga stresses on physical and mental control. Raja Yoga is also called Astanga Yoga because it is composed of eight elements. Meditation, asanas, and pranayam (breathing techniques) are used to bring the mind under control and bring it to higher states of consciousness.

Jnana yoga: Jnana Yoga is the most direct yogic path and also the most difficult to follow. Study of sacred scriptures, reflection, analysis, and meditation are used in this method. Jnana yoga is characterized by inquiry into the nature of the self. This method is considered the most difficult path.

Iyengar yoga (beginner): iyengar yoga is o ne of the easy to follow styles of yoga; Iyengar yoga is perfect for beginners and who haven't exercised in a while. In a lack of flexibility, you can use chairs & pillows to compensate if you have back or joint problems. It provides a calm mental fitness to your body and prepares you for higher yoga.

Vikram yoga (warm) : vikram yoga is an unorthodox style in which one has to sit in a hot room with temperatures ranging from 38-40 degree. This style focuses on 26 tough postures of yoga that are meant to be performed in particular order. The exercises are intense & very physical, which, when combined with heat, makes out for a tough workout. The temperatures are to be replicated to give a touch of Indian climatic conditions that are generally hotter than other western countries.

Hatha yoga (stress release): This style of Yoga focuses on simple poses that flow from one to the other at very comfortable pace. It is one of the most easily adoptable forms of yoga and can be performed at your home also. Generally, participants are encouraged to go at their own pace, taking time will be better with lots of breathing & meditation into their workout. Yoga depends very much on your timing than on your speed of doing asana. Hatha Yoga is ideal for those needing a stress release at the end of a tough day.

Karma yoga (action): Karma yoga is the yoga of action. It involves dedication of all work as an offering to God with no thought of personal gain. The karma yogi tries to help everyone -- humans, animals, plants, and the whole world by performing selfless action.This path of yoga can be practiced at all times when there is need.
