Physical Health Meaning and Importance of Physical Health

The man of the 21 st century is going faster than his capacity. Pressure to earn more, work better and excel in one’s field is tremendous and the race seems to have no finish line. One of the major concerns in the modern world is physical health. Everyone has suddenly been awakened to the cruel reality of life that physical health is the most basic need and that you cannot afford to ignore it.

Maintaining physical health does not only include a workout regime or physical exercise, it also includes an overall change in ones lifestyle and behavior. One needs to have a balanced and healthy diet, in the first place. Diets also vary from person to person and the needs of the diet are different for everyone. An athlete’s diet would not be the same as that of a clerk and a pregnant woman’s diet would not be the same as that of a model. Watching the calorie-count is the most effective way to maintain physical health. An average person should only take in the calories that he needs to burn, leaving out the exceptions mentioned above. Having a proper and stable height-to-weight ratio is a commonly used indicator of physical health.

Workouts should also be complemented with proper warm-ups and rest so that your body can recover from the stress of the workout. Trainers’ advice becomes indispensable in maintaining good physical health. A particular set of exercises may be adversely affecting your health and trainers can only point them out.

The living environment of the person also plays a vital role in his physical health. A lot of fresh air can work wonders to your health and at the same time too much dust and even air-conditioning can affect you adversely in the long run. Mental peace and emotional support is equally important in maintaining a good physical health. You cannot be physically fit if you cannot sleep well or you have regular disputes with people.

One of the common misconceptions is that you cannot regain your physical state after a major accident or trauma. It may be true to a certain degree but rehabilitation in such cases is extremely useful in regaining your physical health. It must be noted that will power is extremely important in extensive rehabilitation and family support is indispensable.

Staying fit is the least thing that you can do to lead a happy and trouble free life, as an unhealthy person would not only be troubling for family and friends but he cannot himself be truly happy and also, he cannot contribute to the betterment of the society itself. Physically fit individuals are the true backbone of a nation.
